Police can confirm that a boy, who was arrested in connection with a racially aggravated assault that occurred in Carlisle on 26 March, has been released on bail.

Investigative enquiring are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

An arrest has been made as part of an investigation into a racially aggravated assault that occurred on Lismore Place, Carlisle yesterday (March 26) at around 3pm.

The assault involved two boys of secondary school age from Carlisle, resulting in head injuries to one of the boys who received treatment at the Cumberland Infirmary. He has since been released from hospital. 

During the assault, a third boy also from Carlisle was assaulted causing no injury.

A boy has been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault and assault actual bodily harm he remains in police custody.

Enquiries are ongoing by officers to establish the circumstances of the incident, and officers are providing support to the victims and their family.

The public will see an increased police presence in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.
