Emergency services were called at 12.57pm today ( March 3 ) to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Whinlatter Road, Whitehaven near to the Nisa Local store.
The driver in charge of the vehicle, a man in his mid-sixties, was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who has any information to make contact with them.
Family of the deceased are aware and are receiving support by specialist officers.
The road has now reopened.
