Op Spotlight Update - The bad news is a car collided with a fire engine on the A595 at Calder Bridge last night (11 April) and drove away from the scene without stopping.
The good news is nobody was hurt and our officers tracked the suspected driver down to a Cumbria property he was renting. He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision – as well as drink driving after providing a reading more than double the limit.
The incident occurred at around 9.15pm last night.
The driver – a man in his 20s and from the Hartlepool area – was released on bail to allow time for further enquiries to be made.
This is the latest of our Operation Spotlight arrests targeting the Fatal Four - speeding, using a mobile phone at the wheel, not wearing a seatbelt and driving under the influence of drink and/or drugs.
