Last night we arrested two drug drivers after they failed a roadside drug test - testing positive for cocaine.

The first was at 9.40pm (31 March) on the M6 northbound, north of junction 43 (Carlisle).

We stopped a 48-year-old woman from Birmingham driving a Dacia Sandero.

She was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and released under investigation to allow for time for blood test results.

Then, in the early hours of this morning, we arrested a 40-year-old man from Cockermouth - who also failed a roadside drug test after testing positive for cocaine.

He was driving a Fiat Panda when he was arrested at around 4.20am this morning (1 April) in Cockermouth.

He too was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and released under investigation to allow for time for blood test results.

Throughout April, we are running Operation Spotlight - our month-long op targeting the Fatal Four.
