Latest update on Op Spotlight:
Another busy weekend for our officers targeting the Fatal Four.
On Sunday afternoon (20 April) we stopped a car in Cleator Moor after spotting the driver not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver – who had two children in the car – failed a roadside drugs wipe for cannabis and was arrested.
He was subsequently released under investigation to allow time for blood test results.
Also on Sunday afternoon, we stopped a car in Aspatria after a report the driver was suspected of drinking before getting behind the wheel.
The driver failed a roadside breath test, was arrested and subsequently charged. He is due in court next month.
These arrests are part of our Operation Spotlight targeting the Fatal Four - speeding, using a mobile phone at the wheel, not wearing a seatbelt and driving under the influence of drink and/or drugs.
