Two men arrested on suspicion of a burglary reported to have occurred in the Salterbeck area in the early hours of Friday (24 May) have been charged with offences and are due to appear in court today (27 May).

Josh Nicholson, 27, of Mona Road, Workington has been charged with an offence of dwelling burglary with intent to steal and resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.

Ricky Rayson, 35, of Fountains Avenue, Workington has been charged with an offence of dwelling burglary with intent to steal.

Both Nicholson and Rayson were remanded into police custody to appear at Carlisle Magistrates' Court on Monday 27th May.

The resisting arrest charge relates to an alleged attempt by Nicholson to evade arrest.

Police would like to thank a member of the public who assisted officers. 

Unfortunately, when other officers arrived, the man who assisted had left the area without leaving any of his information.
