A man has received a five-year Violent Offender Order to prevent him committing further offences in the Whitehaven and Workington areas.

Jordan Starkey, 33, of no fixed address, was given the order yesterday (6 Dec) at Workington Magistrates’ Court.

The order states Starkey must not be in any public place within the defined boundaries (as defined by the attached two maps) between the hours of 8pm and 5am on any day of the week (public place is a specified place including anywhere except a private residential dwelling or private hotel room).

He must also not be in the company of four named individuals.

Starkey was previously given an interim VOO in August - Man given Violent Offender Order - Cumbria Constabulary

Police Constable Sarah Hindle of Copeland Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are committed to taking action against violence in our communities – from our Operation Enhance patrols to securing orders against individuals such as in this case.

“I would encourage anyone who witnesses this individual breaching the terms of the order to come forward immediately so that swift action can be taken.”

Operation Enhance sees officers on high visibility patrols targeting those who commit serious violence in areas including Workington and Whitehaven.

The operation was made possible after Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner secured an additional £1m of extra funding from the Government’s Hotspot Response Fund to target anti-social behaviour (ASB) and serious violence in hotspot areas across the county.
