A 44-year-old woman has been jailed after she breached a restraining order.
Serena Robinson, of Wedgwood Road, Flimby, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today (12 June) charged with breach of a restraining order.
On 10 April 2024 police were called to an address in Workington following a report of a disturbance, where the caller stated they could hear an elderly lady shouting “get out, get out”.
When officers arrived at the scene it transpired that Robinson had persuaded her elderly mother to allow her into her address, despite being subject of a restraining order in October 2022, which was put in place to protect her mother from harassment from her daughter.
Whilst inside the address, Robinson became aggressive, refusing to leave when asked so repeatedly. The victim stated she “wanted to get out the house because she was frightened” and tried to escape the address on two occasions and before being forced back in by Robinson.
Robinson was sentenced to 14 months in prison for the breach.
Detective Constable Alastair Clarke said: “Robinson’s conditions were put in place to protect her elderly mother and we take all breaches seriously.
“For her to have breached the court order eight times in the last two years shows her persistence to cause continuous distress towards her mother.
“We don’t often see breaches of restraining orders get custodial sentences, so I am pleased to see we have secured a prison sentence in this case.
“I hope the victim can take some reassurance by the sentence imposed today.”
